What's the difference between DENIM and JEAN?
Both names originate with the French. The word denim is an Americanization of the French name "serge de Nimes," a sturdy fabric which originated in Nimes, France. In 1864 Webster's dictionary listed the shortened English version: DENIM. Denim was traditionally colored blue with indigo dye to make blue "jeans," though "jean" then denoted a different, lighter cotton textile. The contemporary use of jean comes from the French word for Genoa, Italy (Gênes), where the first denim trousers were made.

EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR DENIM!
- Wash inside out in cold water.
- Add a little white vinegar to set the color.
- Use mild detergent and gentle cycle.
- Don't use bleach. Denim will naturally fade when washed.
- Air dry when possible.
- Never wash denim with spandex in hot water unless you want a larger size - heat destroys the elasticity of spandex.
